NEW YORK -- In Union Square, the indictment of three police officers in the Sean Bell shooting was the focus of a protest rally Saturday afternoon, NewsChannel 4 reported.
The group Peoples' Justice protested the news that a Queens grand jury chose to indict only three of the five officers who fired their weapons during the November shooting.
In a police barrage of 50 shots, Bell was killed and two friends were injured on his wedding day. All three men had exited Bell's bachelor party at a Queens nightclub and were unarmed at the time.
Sources told NewsChannel 4 that two of the officers will likely face manslaughter charges and the third, a lesser charge of reckless endangerment.
The indictments will be unsealed on Monday, and the charges will be officially announced then.

As three city detectives prepare to surrender Monday on charges
stemming from the Sean Bell shooting, demonstrators protested the grand
jury's decision to not indict all five officers involved in Manhattan
Saturday.
Members of the People's Justice Campaign and some city leaders say
the grand jury failed to bring justice Friday. They want all five
officers to be indicted on murder, attempted murder and conspiracy
charges.
“Two little girls lost a father, and let's not forget that while we
get into all this other stuff,” said Brooklyn City Councilman Charles
Barron. “The family is in pain and to come back with three indictments
on five officers with no murder charges and no criminally negligent
homicide charges is a travesty and injustice.”
“Three out of five is not good enough. We want all five,” said
Orlando Green of the People’s Justice Campaign. “This is a protractive
struggle. It's not going to be won at one rally. It's not going to be
lost because of one rally either. We still have a long way to go.”
Detective Marc Cooper is being charged with reckless endangerment.
Detectives Michael Oliver and Gescard Isnora face second degree
manslaughter charges.
Their indictments are expected to be formally unsealed Monday.

PEOPLES' JUSTICE CALL FOR GATHERING DAY AFTER INDICTMENTS ARE UNSEALED
On Saturday, March 17th, 2007, hundreds of people gathered at Union Square at 12 NOON to demand community control and police accountability. We took the streets and marched down Broadway, stopping at the entrance to 1 Police Plaza and closing at City Hall. It was a powerful and beautiful display by our communities. (See pictures from Saturday's event)
As we all know, this struggle is far from over. We need to continue to show our strength and unity in demanding justice be served.
