SATURDAY MARCH 17th 2007 IS THE DAY |

The NYPD's murder of Sean Bell and attempted murders of Trent Benefield and Joseph Guzman are NOT isolated or random events. They represent the continued racial profiling of communities of color by the police and the lack of accountability for police misconduct and abuse. The grand jury made its decision in the Sean Bell case today, but the DA’s office has decided to wait until Monday to make a formal announcement. In spite of this, national media has already reported that there have been indictments of 3 of the 5 cops involved.
We gathered at Union Square SATURDAY MARCH 17, 2007 (12 NOON) and born witness that justice be served for Bell, Benefield, Guzman and all those who have been killed and brutalized by the police. The turnout was strong and media coverage was significant.
